Water intake calculator FAQ
How much water do I need a day?
A common starting point is about half your body weight in ounces, adjusted up for activity and hot or dry climates. The calculator turns that into a daily target, a cups-per-day figure and a simple schedule. It is a general guide, not a medical prescription.
Do coffee, tea and food count?
Yes. Most drinks — and water-rich foods like fruit and vegetables — count toward your total. Caffeine and alcohol do pull some water back out, so it helps to pair them with a glass of water.
Do I need more when I train?
Yes. You lose water through sweat, so active and hot days need more. The tool bumps your target for activity and climate, and adds a workout slot to the daily plan when you train hard.
What are the signs I’m behind?
Dark urine, headache, low energy and feeling thirsty are common early signs — thirst in particular tends to lag behind. Sipping steadily through the day beats trying to catch up all at once. If you have a medical condition that affects fluids, follow your doctor’s guidance.
Education only — a general guide, not individualized medical advice. Needs rise with illness, pregnancy, heat and heavy training; some conditions require fluid limits. Talk to your doctor.
