Protein calculator FAQ
How much protein do I actually need?
As a general guide, most active adults do well on roughly 0.6–1.1 grams of protein per pound of body weight per day, depending on your goal and how hard you train. The calculator turns that range into a single daily target and a per-meal number. It is educational only — your doctor can tailor it to you.
Why spread protein across meals?
Your body can only use so much protein for muscle repair at once. Hitting roughly 30–40 g per meal, several times a day, tends to work better than one large dinner. The result screen shows a simple day that lands your target.
Does protein change on a GLP-1 (like semaglutide or tirzepatide)?
It can matter more. When appetite drops fast, keeping protein high — alongside some resistance training — helps protect muscle while you lose fat. If you take or are considering a GLP-1, mark it in the tool and talk to your clinician.
Can I hit my target as a vegetarian or vegan?
Yes. The calculator shows plant-forward sources (tofu, tempeh, seitan, legumes, soy milk, pea protein) and nudges you to mix sources so you cover all the building blocks.
